Sacraments

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
This program assists those considering membership in the Catholic Church to gain an understanding of Catholic belief and practice as they prepare to enter the Church. Inquirers are accompanied by Catholic students who serve as sponsors. The inquiry process begins in October of every year. Please contact Candy Pulliam, Religious Education Coordinator, at cpulliam@lacooperativa.org.

Confirmation Preparation
If you have basic religious education in the Catholic faith, and have been baptized and made your First Communion, but have not been confirmed, this is an opportunity for you to prepare for this sacrament. A class time is arranged each year.

Infant Baptism
The sacrament of baptism marks the initiation of a person into the Body of Christ, the Church. With Christ the individual dies, are buried, and rise again from the waters of baptism. They receive the Spirit of adoption which makes them God's son or daughter, and become a new creation. Parents inquiring about infant baptism can call Joe and Patty Symkowick at (916) 481-7857.

Marriage Preparation
If you would like to be married at Newman, please contact our director and Priest, Fr. George Wanser, at george@sacnewman.org.

The diocesan marriage preparation guidelines are availiable on the Diocese of Sacramento website. The Sacramento Engaged Encounter website has information on the program, available dates and cost.

Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered by appointment and sometimes at Wednesday night Student Masses. Please contact Fr. George or call Newman at (916) 454-4188 for a schedule.
